Heathridge is an established residential area. Heathridge is bounded by Hodges Road in the north, the Mitchell Freeway in the east, Ocean Reef Road in the south and Marmion Avenue in the west. Heathridge is named for the heath type vegetation growing on the sand ridges in the area.
Development of the area dates primarily from 1976. Rapid growth took place during the 1980s. The population has declined slightly since the early 1990s, a result of some new dwellings being added to the area, but a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
Major features of the area include Heathridge Village Shopping Centre, Admiral Park, Heathridge Park, Larkspur Park, Littorina Park, Prince Regent Park and several schools.
